Effective Teamwork Really Matters

My wife is the Principal of an elementary school here in Texas. She is directly responsible for the safety and scholastic advancement of over 650 children ages 4 to 11 and the safety of a staff of 75. Being effective in the classrooms is a no brainer for our kids advancement and teamwork ensures such. While there are tons of action plans, lesson plans, safety plans and OTHER plans, here in Texas the ONLY valid plan for snow storms is for schools to close and the children staff to stay at home. The roads are simply impassible and it becomes too dangerous for school to remain in session.

effective teamwork

During a recent snow storm, I accompanied her to her school to make sure that none of the pipes had burst and that things would be safe for the school children and staff to return when the school district determined the roads were passible again.  Imagine two inches of ice accompanied by 72hrs of temperatures well below freezing. Effective teamwork was truly necessary.

Our primary concern was determining if the sidewalks were safe, the pipes were intact and there were no leaks and that the heat was operable and the school was warm. We were quickly made aware by one of her staff though that there were guinea pigs and hamsters in some of the classrooms that the children had adopted and were caring for. Imagine our huge concern when we imagined them being locked in their little cages for the past 3 days with no interaction, food, water and possibly no heat. There was no way we could allow the students (their loving caretakers) to return to school and experience what we imagined as the inevitable. I mean how do you really handle this conversation with the little ones and how much of a distraction from their academics could this possibly be?

As we approached each of the three rooms with pets we hesitantly peered into the cages for any signs of life. Any noises or movement would be a welcome indicator that things were ok. Here is how things went :

Effective Teamwork can Make Difficult Tasks Easier to Bear

ROOM 1 CAGE 1

We cringed when we noticed VERY LITTLE WATER and NO FOOD AT ALL. At first no movement either. But then two guinea pigsIMG 0627 150x150 Effective Teamwork can Keep You on Top in Business and in Personal Endeavors emerged from their little shelter inside of their cage and began to chirp and move about frantically as if to let us know how delighted they were to see us. Even though they had never seen us before it felt as if they knew we were there to help them out. I could hardly get my hand out of the cage before they rushed the food bowl I had just filled and began gorging themselves. And just like that it seemed as if they had forgotten we were there and were immersed back into their own little guinea pig world. They had become empowered with their basic needs and were adept at moving on with surviving.

ROOM 2 CAGE 2

NO WATER, NO FOOD AND NO MOVEMENT……Oh boy, this could get ugly fast. We hesitantly stirred about around the cage and a little guinea pig emerged. Again he chirped as if to express a welcome. As I opened the cage to grab the food bowl he attempted to jump out as if to say, “Get me outta here!” I literally had to close the cage door on him to keep him from exiting stage left. Then I was IMG 0633 150x150 Effective Teamwork can Keep You on Top in Business and in Personal Endeavorsstartled by more movement in the cage a second lethargic guinea pig emerged. This little guy was much slower and much more deliberate, but very alive. We immediately filled their water bottle and were amazed at how fast and how much the little guys consumed. They ignored the food bowl until they had their fill of water and only then did they start to eat. I immediately told my wife that I remember learning you can live much longer without food than drinking water. It is such a basic necessity for survival for all living beings. It was funny to notice that just like before as soon as these little guys had their basic needs met, they were almost oblivious to us being there. Mission accomplished, moving on.

ROOM 3 CAGE 3

Water, food….. NO MOVEMENT. This is the story of the hamster named “Grumpy”. Upon entering the room I immediately noticed that there wasn’t a cage. There was an elaborate environment that was enclosed. There were tunnels, a wheel, several different compartments to move around in. There was even a wheel for exercise. I mean in comparison to the cages the guinea pigs were in,IMG 0642 150x150 Effective Teamwork can Keep You on Top in Business and in Personal Endeavors this was a mansion. The environment was so elaborate it took me a little bit to find Grumpy’s little dead body. The one thing Grumpy didn’t have was a companion. Could not having a companion (teammate) with the common goal of survival have been Grumpy’s demise? I have to say I think it was a huge factor. Upon finding his little body and removing him I couldn’t help but notice that this little guy had already started to stink. How long had he actually been dead? When did he give up?

How Does This Story Relate to Effective Teamwork in Business and Life?

To be successful in any of these areas you must have the benefit of others supporting and encouraging you to survive.  Going at it alone will inevitably lead to despair and possibly extinction.  If you feel like “Grumpy” you must immediately find help.  Could it really be that by simply having a teammate in life or business you directly increase your chance of survival or success?  Absolutely!

I am a believer in principles involving the law of attraction, visualization, positive thinking and so on. One of the principles I firmly believe in is the power of masterminding. Power, as the term is used here, specifically refers to organized effort, sufficient enough to enable an individual to transmute desire into it’s equivalent. (This equivalent could be money a home, a successful business, a successful marriage, etc.) Organized effort is produced through the coordination of effort of two OR more people, who work toward a definite end in the spirit of harmony.

When looking to achieve success in ANY area we have access to an abundance of general knowledge. The internet and social media have successfully bridged the gap between knowing and not knowing. But if we depend upon our access to information and our efforts alone, the difficulty we encounter can be enormous. However, if we have comprehensive plans and we can induce others to cooperate with us we can decrease difficulty and increase productivity, significantly improving the odds of success.

The economic feature of masterminding is obvious. Economic advantages may be created by any person who surrounds himself with the advice, counsel and personal cooperation of a group of peers who are willing to lend wholehearted aid, in a spirit of harmony. This form of cooperative alliance has been the basis of nearly every great fortune. Understanding this truth may definitely determine your financial status.

Ask yourself honestly, Who do you rely on in your business efforts? Are you part of a team or are you simply holding the hands of others? Even worse, are you looking for help and not getting answers? STOP working at your success alone today!

If you are looking for a teammate or mentor who firmly believes in the Power of the mastermind principle I would love to help you out. Don’t be another Grumpy left out alone with no help, direction or focus. 5 Steps to Achieving ALL of Your Goalsgoals 150x150 Achieving ALL Your Goals in 5 Steps | PLUS a BONUS Video

1. Visualize life on the other side

If you want to achieve a goal, you’ve got to really see and feel the way life will be when its achieved. Goals define a point where things clearly change, a point in time where you know you’ll be able to do things differently because of the platform the goal has created. There are so many things that we should do, but there’s a reason we should but never do them, they don’t mean anything to us emotionally or we haven’t found how they get us going. Quite often there’s a scenario you can see in your mind’s eye that makes you excited and makes you smile, the way life could be if we could just get to this point, that’s the gold! Get clear on what that point is, that’s your goal, Put the scenario down in words, get a picture that reminds you it, write it down, and throw it into PlanHQ

2. Get Commitment

A goal is only as good as the people who are going to make it happen, so everyone needs to feel the love of the outcome and agree to when it’s going to happen. Ideally get as many people as possible involved in visualizing the outcome, different people will have different outcomes that make achieving the goal worthwhile. If you’re a team, the best goals are ones you all want. If you’re the main leader of the goal, then you would have been assimilating all the ideas and thinking of others in the team and set a goal that you know everyone will love.

3. Break it into bits, its action time

When you see the goal, the point in the future where life is that much cooler, think of all the things that lie between now and then. Throw down any that come to mind, add them as actions against the goal, and try and put in a realistic time that you can do them by. A goal is something big, and something that really gets you and you team emotionally charged up, but some of the things you’ll have to do to get there are less exciting, but have to be done, use the buzz of knowing that if you do them you’ll reach your goal be your driving force to get things don

4. Start Now and make constant Progress

We’ve all heard there’s no time like the present, and there’s a reason for this. There’s only one thing worse than not setting goals, its setting a goal and leaving it to sit in words and speculation. When you’re charged up on your goal, use this energy to do the first thing you can do. If you want to have that feeling that you will achieve your goal, then make some progress. Every time you do one thing towards your goal, you send a clear signal to yourself, this goal is important and I’m already on the path to getting there.

5. Celebrate Success

It’s too easy to keep adding more things into a goal, and to keep expanding it. This is natural, because as you make more progress, your mind will reward you by letting you see further into the future, as it trusts that what it shows you, you will do. But seeing the next step ahead is just one reward for making progress on achieving your goals, you also have to remember just how far away achieving the goal once was, when you first set it, and feel the gap you’ve closed. Acknowledge your success, you’ve all worked hard to achieve the goal, so enjoy hitting it and take some space to enjoy it!

Best MLM company advice, tips and secrets are everywhere online. The emergence of gurus and experts is uncanny. When I was getting into this industry I was amazed at how many people there were to follow. Ultimately I choose those I could identify with most to be my mentors and tour guides on the journey I was about to take. Best MLM company advice to me was generic in nature and resonated with my personal goals, values and aspirations,  not those of the person trying to influence or recruit.

When the Burrell family suggested our next video series be about the finer points of choosing the best MLM company I was thrilled. In my opinion this is our best series yet because it helps the viewer determine what’s best for them at the most important part of the race, the start.
